This place probably has THE BEST TACO TUESDAY in North Park. The tacos were really big...loaded with food...and the service was great.
I ended up in there on Tuesday and to my surprise...they were having a Photoshoot right in front of the place.
The waitstaff was friendly and helpful
The DJ was jamming some goooooood 90s hip hop while I gorged myself.
I will definitely be back.
Peace -

Tacos tacos and more tacos for us!
Honestly, I thought I would remember everything we ordered because typically, I do.
But man, the rounds of Cadillac margis has definitely effected my memory! Good times!
There was a mole taco, mahi mahi, lengua, pork and and potato taco. Definitely lots of options for each of us. Plates came with rice and beans, steamy tortillas (I swear someone's abuela or tia is hooking it up in the back with tortillas) and before our meal, chips and salsa.
Great food and our server was awesome!
Now, I'm going to be honest here, here's what happened when we first walked in.
We walk in and we're greeted and asked if we wanted the bar (in the back) or a seat at the tables. We opted for the bar. There were two other people seated at the bar and in we walk, a party of 4. We knew what we wanted and waited to order. We waited and waited and finally went straight to the bartender to place the order. He said "I'll be right with you". So we sat down and waited a bit more (going on 20+ minutes now). The two other patrons left which only left us and the dude never came to take our order.
So, we got up and went back to the restaurant side and we're seated immediately, order taken by our very enthusiastic and funny server. We were seated, orders taken and eating in the same amount of time it took us to wait for the bartender to ignore us.
Now, if it weren't for the excellent service, great food and attentiveness of our sever and hostess, I would likely have given a low rating.
Ultimately I'm glad we were patient and gave them the opportunity in the dining area.
All tummies were stuffed, great memories made and we ended up having a great experience.
I'd skip the bar next time and head straight to be seated and start ordering.
We'll be back! -

I had the potato mole taco, it was just ok, I thought the mole sauce was good. Was pretty greasy and mushy potato.
I really would have liked potato rolled tacos but the waiter said they did not have that.
The chips and salsa were good -

Came in for a drink... but I would love to come back and eat here. They have so many tequila options. I had mescal and they served it with oranges and amazing worm-salt. Had to take a picture so I can find this salt! So great!

I love how this place's kitchen is open late. We came in from leaving the AC lounge and went straight to the bar area.
First of all the bar is beautiful. So many bottles, obviously.
There was music playing - but we requested the DJ to play Mexican music considering we were in a Mexican Restaurant. He played a variety of genres but mostly The Beatles and U2 songs, etc.
There was a lady there giving us free shots (photos attached) She didn't exactly work for El Zarape but they allowed her to promote her drinks.
We were buzzed and hungry. So how can anyone hungry and buzzed turn down Mexican food? That's like a given. We still ordered a pitcher of blood orange margarita and shared it between 3 girlies. Super satisfying taste and strength lol.
OUR PLATES:
1. Chiliqulles surf and turf (didn't come with an egg)
2. Vegetarian Mole tacos
3. Sopes
It was a Thursday night and it was a lovely vibe. Plus we were in our own little world. But the food came out fresh and fast, you get free chips and salsa(s) and the service was perfect. The bar area was a little on the darker side (lightning wise) but there was a cool projector playing old music videos. Pretty cool. I've always been a fan of this place. STOP BY AND TRY YOURSELF!
Hope your visit will be just as great as ours.
